The Kure

Forbidden by law and denounced as an abomination by the church, the Kure has been hidden for centuries . . .

John Tyler has never met Sarah Sheridan. But he knows he must find her, and somehow convince her that she is the key to unlocking the power of an ancient ritual that will rid his body of a rare and ravaging disease.

But as cure quickly becomes curse, John realizes the ritual is more than a faded promise scrawled on a page of crumbling paper, and he discovers, too late, that the unholy text has unleashed a dark power that is driving him to consider the unthinkable.

Ultimately, John must choose between his desperate need to arrest the plague that is destroying his body, and the virtue of the woman he loves, knowing the wrong decision could cost him his life.

Insights on The Kure . . .

I’m going to be right upfront with you. The Kure is edgy, at times a bit dark, and I’ve been told it contains the basic ingredients to induce a nightmare or two.  (And yes, it’s intended for adults – the mature content is there as a necessary, integral part of the story.)

First and foremost, The Kure is a love story and, yes, it fits nicely into that over-the-top popular genre called paranormal romance – typically full of passionate vampires, confused werewolves, and wary but curious women who eventually opt for a little sack time with the irresistible undead.

And guys, don’t let that turn you off.  I realize the majority of romance readers are women. But I promise, there’s enough going on between the pages of The Kure to keep even the most masculine of the species entertained. How am I so sure? Because  men the who read it have come back with some interesting comments:

“I wasn’t expecting anything like this . . . haven’t been able to get the story out of my head.”

“This shocked the shit out of me. The descriptions of John’s condition were grisly.”

“I have to admit I couldn’t put it down. By the way, don’t miss a day of your medication.”

Since its publication, The Kure has generated a lot of correspondence from readers who wanted to know more about the source of its inspiration, and in particular, if the book’s references to witchcraft, demons, and other “black” practices have a historical basis. I’ve answered many of these questions in the Author’s Notes, especially those directly applicable to The Kure’s storyline and plot.

And yes, the notes contain “spoilers” that will ruin several surprises contained in the story. So my suggestion is that you enjoy the read first, and then dive into the notes.

Fair warning . . . it’s possible you may lose some sleep.
